Note: The BBS is currently out of action, due to technical issues (no spare phone line).
Firstly, I'd only bother if you're near Adelaide (South Australia). It's not a big bbs and doesn't have a huge file library. It's something I do for fun with my friends, mainly it's one more way of keeping in touch. And, of course, it's another way to contact me or my business.
It uses the same phone number as I use for my business, so the BBS only runs outside of business hours, unless you need to use a MODEM to communicate with me, and then I'll run it as needed. I'm not sure how you'd let me know that you needed the BBS if you couldn't speak to me, other than faxing me, or me switching it on if I heard modem tones.
You'll need to have access to a MODEM that can dial out (if you're reading this page in an office or using a public access internet service {like in a library}, you probably don't have this option). And, you'll need a terminal program.
The easiest way to dial a BBS is usually to enter the phone number into that program's phone directory (check your program's own help files for this, there are an awful lot of terminal programs available, so I can't possibly tell you instructions for this). But if you can't work that out, then you can sometimes type the dial command and number directly into the terminal window (AT D 8396 6392), this should work for many situations, as nearly every MODEM emulates the Hayes AT command set.
The operating times of the BBS are: 8 pm to 6 am.
MODEM settings:
These are quite standard settings, so you probably won't have to change your program's settings from its default settings (unless you're using a very very old program).
The phone number is 8396 6392.
