บ Wow a bad packaging job here. First off, this is 6 disks, not 2 บ
บ like the diz says. Secondly, they are all not compressed the way they บ
บ should be, which is why when you downloaded this you might have been บ
บ like "holy shit!" Thirdly, the arj.exe and the install.exe each have a บ
บ virus, one has taipan the other the burglar virus. Still you don't need บ
บ either of those, just arj x -y -v to a directory, it don't matter. An บ
บ earlier version of this game was put out in a package called `Triple บ
บ Threat.' บ

บ Anyway, you probably shouldn't download this in the first place, บ
บ because once you go to play the game, you'll see it sucks and it was a บ
บ waste of time. Mainly the reason for it sucking is because you can't บ
บ control the movement of the plane. That's right, none of the k/b keys บ
บ work for movement, although they work with firing (and so does the บ
บ mouse). There is no configuring to change it and it's supposed to work บ
บ with the arrow keys (numlock on or off made no diff). But for your บ
บ knowledge (or something) this is a plane game. You have your plane in บ
บ front of you and you see enemies approach in the distance and they fire บ
บ at you and you must avoid it. It's not a 3d game, it's more of the บ
บ asteroids type. The sound is quite loud, but does help add a little บ
บ something to this cheapy game. บ

บ This is supposed to be the final (game says v1.06) and the Coredump บ
บ is being called a beta (game says v1.01). However I assue you the บ
บ Coredump version works fine, and at least you can get sound with that บ
บ one. This one has no sound, even though it's included, you can't บ
บ actually set it up because the install.exe is missing files you need in บ
บ order to configure it. Here's the review from issue #36 : บ

บ "Crusader is back, and improved. While you may go and call this บ
บ Crusader 2, it's really a little stretch to do that. This game is บ
บ pretty much exactly like the original, except a few minor improvements, บ
บ new levels, different exclamations from the enemies, smarter artificial บ
บ inteligence of the enemies, and limits on your animation (bad). While บ
บ some of you remember this game as "that one you could blow up everything บ
บ in" you will soon find this one loses some of that fun because of the บ
บ fact that you are limited on ammunition of even your main gun. For บ
บ those who didn't play the first one, the game idea is simple. It's a 3D บ
บ overview of rooms, you walk around, shoot people, shit that you wish you บ
บ could do in real life. You have tons of weapons to pick up, and so many บ
บ things to blow up, you could spend your entire life blowing up every บ
บ single thing. If you liked the first one a lot, then I still recommend บ
บ getting this one, although it just isn't as good and simple as the first บ
บ one. บ

บ If you thought the first one was so-so-good, then well you really บ
บ don't need to check this one out, because it isn't much different. I บ
บ would have thought they could have made some more improvements to the บ
บ game, add some better features, and improve it a little more than they บ
บ did. When you hit "s" it also will make an annoying beep sound (it gets บ
บ annoying trust me) if there is nothing to use it for. Also, they didn't บ
บ really improve on the game engine, which although good, could have used บ
บ some bug-like fixes. Still a great game, make sure ya get the save game บ
บ fix (which is just a stupid .com file to make a dir "savegame" in your บ
บ game dir), and the music addon for music. Oh, one more thing, the บ
บ install.exe you are supposed to run to set the sound, it takes quite a บ
บ while to load, so don't go rebooting your machine when all it does is บ
บ sit their for about anywhere from 10-20 seconds with a black screen, the บ
บ regret.exe will also take quite a while to load up, just be patient. บ
บ Also, there are some rumors about this being a `beta.' บ
บ บ
บ As far as I can tell, the game runs fine, exactly like the first บ
บ did, and there really is NO PROOF that this is not the final. Oh and บ
บ ONE more thing, on level 1, at one point in time you will be given a บ
บ code #121 for those keypads, the correct # is really #122, I don't know บ
บ if the game was designed to do that, but it's not #121. บ

บ first time, get it now, and see if you can get some kind of sound addon, บ

บ Well this game just about sucks balls better than that hooker last บ
บ night. It's some kind of tank game for Win/Win 95, and it's hard to บ
บ figure out what to do. The graphics are shitty and the controls are บ
บ crappy, because you have to use buttons that are practically hidden in บ
บ the picture of your tank. Then you get to look out a shitty บ
บ (pehr-uh-scope) and see a crappy image, and you can slowly move it at บ
บ the rate of 1 foot a year. Anyway this is basically a really shitty บ
บ tank game and not worth even seeing. บ

บ that's been put out so many times. Thank god, it wasn't. It was a บ
บ racing car game, der, beta, and well it's kinda boring, no sound, and บ
บ the graphics are kinda plain. You can't run off the road, because it บ
บ goes a level up so you can't run too far. It's kinda boring, and it บ
บ don't seem like you're going to fast, it's pretty easy to turn, but it's บ
บ just so boring, lame ass grassy surroundings, everything is like fucking บ
บ green, and you can't crash into anything but the side. Don't bother, บ
บ maybe they'll work on some things for the final version. บ

บ is good, but it's just not as good as QBC'97... oh and it's of course a บ
บ demo. The game has the usual settings for gfx, and you can turn on and บ
บ off shit. You can play a normal game, with the Steelers and Cowboys and บ
บ there is sound, but no announcer (which actually is a good thing, cuz บ
บ who the hell wants to listen to John Madden bitch?). Plenty of options, บ
บ weather, graphics, speech, and the usuals. You can switch the viewing บ
บ window size, but not the actual gfx mode. If you do want it, wait for บ
บ the full version. บ

บ Sorry I don't remember the un-supah version of this great game, but บ
บ this one is definately Super! All kinds of missions to play with this บ
บ jetfighter sim. From intercepting russian Migs to bombing runs at sea, บ
บ it's all here. You'll definately wanna break out the Sidewinder Pro for บ
บ this, as it makes full use of the POV hat, rudder, and all 4 buttons. บ
บ Too bad it didn't have any way to configure the 4 assignable buttons, บ
บ but we can't have everything I guess. If you got other flight equip, บ
บ like pedals and etc, it'll support that too. บ

บ There's quite a few controls to mess with, anything from radar บ
บ functions to in-flight refueling mechanisms to counter measures. You บ
บ also get to fly with a wingman which talks to you in that leet jetjockey บ
บ slang. You can tell him what to do as well, like break right/left, go บ
บ after certain targets, cover your tail, and etc. The speech wasn't บ
บ ripped either, so you've got all kinds of radio chatter in the บ
บ background too. บ

บ Speaking of sound, man, never let someone get a radar lock on you, บ
บ it's REAL annoying, and maybe that's the point. :) The directx sound บ
บ screwed up on my system, garbling it, and making real nasty screeching บ
บ sounds, but I don't think it was the games fault. I'll have to go บ
บ through and screw with my drivers. Anyway, the grafix were great, บ
บ smooth even on this shitty dram stealth. Of course if it's choppy for บ
บ you, it's got a couple grafix switches to mess with like detail levels, บ
บ and high/low res. บ

บ All in all, a great game if you've got the time to sit down and บ
บ figure out the controls, and learn the cockpit (huh huh he said CockPit) บ

บ 85, but this one, in my book, has earned it. I've played quite a few บ

บ YOU SUCK! But, I used the standard defacto (err ummm yeah) S3 driver and บ
บ it worked just fine. I thank everyone who sent me mail about this game. บ
บ Now, what about the game?? It ROCKS! I'm not sure what kind of scrolling บ
บ it's called, but imagine a 3rd person scrolly adventure like Sonic, or บ
บ Pitfall, but where you can turn all 4 directions and have your back or บ
บ front to the camera as well. Combine that with camera zooming at the บ
บ right times and that's how BUG! works. The basic idea is to walk around บ
บ this 3d world and kill these other bugs by jumping on top of them Mario บ
บ style. บ

บ You're also sposed to grab stuff along the way. Gameplay was just บ
บ like most scrollies, with the exception that you can go towards the บ
บ camera and away from it. The only real bitch I have with it, is that บ
บ when you die, you have to start all the way back at the very beginning บ
บ of the level. You'd think they woulda put some kind of save spot or บ
บ something in it. (Maybe there is, but I was only able to play the 1st บ
บ level, cuz it's late, I need sleep, and this needs to be done :) No บ
บ problems with speed or anything else with this one though. Ran great in บ
บ a hefty size window. You can play it in a few different screen modes, บ
บ windowed, or about 7 full screen modes, going all the way up to 640x480. บ
บ You must run it in 256 color, and it wont let you play unless 95's in บ
บ 8bit mode. I can't give this one a 90+ on the points scale, cuz it just บ
บ sucks too bad when you die, but it's a keeper! บ

บ - In last week's issue (I knew I wasn't going nuts) there were two games บ
บ in the Bubble Bobble Combo, one was the game Bubble Bobble (which I บ
บ remembered but didn't play) and the other was some rainbow game (and บ
บ an enhanced version of it). The .exe's were bb.exe and rainbow.exe, บ
บ and when I ran the bb.exe it just stayed in dos, so that is why I used บ
บ the rainbow.exe, because I was in the /game directory, and forgot บ
บ about the bubble.bat. บ

บ Anyway, Bobble Bubble is that game that was on Nintendo and was like บ
บ really fun and stuff and that we all loved to play for hours on end. บ
บ The only bad thing about these games is your limited to the # of บ
บ continues and so you can't just beat the game if you played it for 5 บ
บ hours, you'd actually have to be one hell of a kick ass player. The บ
บ other bad thing about it is the controls, but I mentioned that บ
บ already. บ
