- NO CARRIER - By Ghost Pilot 3/30/93 Well, here is my latest production.. A new scanning program. It's basically self-explanatory but there are a few parts you might not know what to do with. Just a little note: I did not make this program to be used in any crimes against any company or person. I will not be held responsible for any crimes committed using this program. Do not even try blaming me for any misuse of this program because I am NOT liable. I will explain each item going from left to right across the main menu bar. I. SCAN - Hmm.. What could this do? I hope you can figure it out. :) II. CONFIG - Obviously sets up your modem and other scanning features. Com Port: Take a wild guess..hehe.. Com ports 1-4 are valid. Baud Rate: Carrier supports 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, and 19200.. Theres actually no need for any higher speeds but if I get enough requests, I'll throw that in later. Log File: This is a file that either will be created if it doesn't exist or will be appended if it has already been created. It contains the time of each call and what happened on that call. Found Log: Also will be created or appended as in the Log File option. This is where all your tones and carriers will be stored for later viewing. Modem Log: Will also be created or appended as in the Log File option. This is where all the modem commands are stored so you can see what is wrong if something goes wrong while the program scans. Screen Saver: This is the time the program will wait before blanking the screen to prevent screen burn in. Toggle Sound: Turns modem sound on or off depending on current sound status. Range Prefix: The first three numbers of the scanning range. Only numbers are accepted. Range Suffix: The last four numbers of the scanning range. Only numbers are accepted. Search For: Tells the scanner if you want to look for carriers, tones, or both carriers and tones. If just carriers is chosen, only carriers will be written in the found log. Same with the option Tone. Start Time: Tells the program when you want to start scanning if your not going to be there. The time must be in 24 hour format. Ending Time: Tells the program when you want to end scanning. The same rules apply as in the Start Time option. Dial String: What to dial before each number. This is useful if you dial out of a PBX or you want to block caller I.D. You must put a '\' at the end of the string. Init String: This string is sent to the modem to prepare it for scanning. You can put in whatever you want. You also must put a '\' at the end of the string. Rings: How many rings to allow before skipping the number being dialed. Delay: How long the modem will attempt to find either carriers or tones. Specify in milliseconds. Usually 18000 for tones and 30000 for carriers. Data File: This is a file created to determine which numbers have already been dialed so the program won't dial the same number over and over if you stop the program and then restart it again. Sequence: Carrier will either scan for random numbers or sequential numbers like 1..2..3. Write Config: Click this if you want to save your updated configurations. III. PRINT - This option allows you to print all of the log files. It won't check to make sure the printer is on so when it asks you to hit enter, check to make sure your printer is ready. IV. TERMINAL - I thought this would be helpful if you were curious about the carriers you found. When in terminal mode, hit ALT-E to exit or ALT-C to clear the screen. V. DOS - Every program needs a DOS shell nowadays! I put this in mostly because of my friend's, Zaknafein, love for DOS shell. VI. BLANK SCREEN - Another mind boggler.. Move your mouse or hit a key to get the screen back. The start time will still be active in blank screen mode. VII. OFFHOOK - Takes the phone off hook if it is not offhook already and puts it back on the hook if it is offhook. VIII. VIEW - Use this to view all three of your logs.. You can hit enter or click the mouse in the box to advance to the next screen. IX. EXIT - This is too hard to explain. Try and figure it out yourself. If you still have trouble with it, let me know. :) For comments, suggestions, problems, and verbal abuse, you can reach me on The Dark Palace, Manhattan Project, Absolute Zer0, Game Grid and many other boards. Tell me if you think it needs some additional features or some bugs come up. One more thing: If for some reason your modem does not work perfectly with this program, and you get unknowns for all of the carriers, put an 'H' or 'h' after CARRIER at the command line. I have no idea why this would happen but I had a problem like this with some other modem programs a while back. It will just act like all unknowns are carriers and write them to the log and all that wonderful stuff.
